Post Mortem Post

Here are three questions that were presented to us during class and told to think about and prepare ourselves for the future.

1. What is one thing that you could have known before class started to make things easier?

– One thing that I could have known to make things easier this semester was how to implement art and sound into Unity. I didn’t know how to implement sound into Unity earlier in the semester but learned this past week. If I would have known I could have helped out with the sound end of Dark Hack earlier on and got all the sound teams work in. As for the art, I’m not entirely sure how to properly install it in. For example placing textures into a scene properly so they won’t warp or distort.

2. What was the most valuable learning experience this semester?

– This would have to be working in a small group with around 6 people and having outside people working with you. This really helped me see what a small team environment is like and how it functions. It may be a little chaotic at times and stressful but its worth it in the end when you produce something that’s smaller but has a big impact. I plan on next semester taking on a larger role in the class to become more of a leader or outspoken person in order for things to get done on time.

3. What is one thing that you don’t want to forget for next semester?

– The most important thing that I don’t want to forget is the time it takes to implement everything within the game. It took more time that I had originally thought and now know that dividing up tasks in the team is extremely important. This is important because then that one person can explore that aspect of the game longer and find any unknown bugs quicker and easier and can also solve them on their own.
